Here is our first swing trading competition

Before we get started, adjust your time zone in your "Settings”. We need to do this. Otherwise, the forum will not be able to record the time stamp of your entry correctly. Click "Settings" on the top right corner. On the left panel, click "Forum Settings". Look for "Time Zone" and then choose "(GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada),Bogota, Lima". Click "Save Changes" on the lower corner and you have synced your forum time zone with the stock market.


If you do not do this, I will not be able to include your trade.

Please note that this adjustment does not change the time zone of your computer.


This is our first swing trading competition, which will start from 2/16/2010 and end on 2/19/2010. The most profit trade wins. The prize for the best trade is a 25 dollar gift card from Amazon or cash directly into your Paypal account. If you do not reside in the US, set up a Paypal account and get cash. If you do not reside in the US and do not have a Paypal account, please also participate since the best prize is to get you to do the homework.


One pick per person . The pick must meet the following

1. Its price should be 10 dollars or more.
2. Its average daily volume should be 1 million or more.
3. Only stocks on Nasdaq, NYES and AMEX are allowed.
4. Stocks with pending earnings release within our competition period are not allowed
5. Leveraged ETFs are not allowed

Here is how you enter your trade real time.

1. You do not need to post your entry price because your price is determined by the time stamp generated by the forum. Of course you could do it for your own reference
2. You must give your reasons. You can post an annotated chart,which is optional.
3. If you entry is posted after hours, then the next open is your entry. No pre market entries are allowed.

For example

Short RIMM @ 59.99

3. Reason 3

Entries without reasons will be rejected.



Here is how you exit your trade real time.

1. Stop loss is 3% from your entry.
2. Find your entry post, click "Reply with quote" and type something like "closed".
3. If you exit is posted after hours, then the next open is your exit. No pre market exits are allowed.

You can take all the time you want to compose your post. But once you have posted it, you will have only 60 seconds to modify it.

NFLX is showing a bullish tight flag on 5 min. daily shows a break to all time high and I expect price to move at least two points higher if it manages to break the 65.00 level. My eyes see a first move from the enormous gap in late January, it pulled back and this is the second move up. My stop would be 63.41

I do not see a way to show that I am in EST

Have you set your time zone to EST in your forum settings? If you have, you can see the time stamp of your posts right above your id. . I will use the last close 64.86 as your long entry. Maximum stop is 3%. Your stop loss 63.41 is a bit less than 3%. You can use either one of them
